Google Caffeine: Google’s New Search Engine Index

Google has made a major upgrade in its engine. Under the code name Caffeine, Google is hiding a new model for indexing the web supposed to mix quality and freshness of the results.

Despite its diversification rather successful in many areas (video, mobility, etc), Google still has not forgotten its historic heart of business is research online.

Over the years, its engine indexing the Web no longer seemed to match the expectations of users.

And because it was enough to seek advice on a product to be drowned by a plethora of useless links (compare prices in particular).

Google has begun to consolidate its indexing technology under the code name “Caffeine”.

Tested first in 2009, this new model will take into account is the notion of freshness of the results.

Indeed, with the rise of social networking and publishing content (videos, articles, etc), the search had to be more reactive in indexation.

This has now changed with the introduction of official production Caffeine offering “50% cooler performance,” said Carrie Grimes, a software engineer in a contribution on the official blog of Google.

This change is probably one of the most important for the indexing engine Google. Caffeine takes full advantage of the global network of giant Google data centers.
